En una electrizante ronda final, el noruego Magnus Carlsen pese a caer derrotado, se coronó como  desafiante oficial de Vishy Anand, Magnus sumó 8.5 pts sobre 14, igual que Vladimir Kramnik, aventajándolo por mejor sistema de desempate.
